Jiribam, June 05 2013:
Some of the Ward Commissioners of Jiribam Municipal Council have been alleged of keeping office gadgets like computer at their home apart from setting up community wells for their own advantages.
All the ten wards within Jiribam Municipal Council (JMC) have been looked after by the Jiribam Ward Development Committee.
Besides, two officials of the JMC are appointed as secretaries and put in-charge of the wards.
Each secretary is assigned to look after five wards.
A reliable source said that amount to the tune of Rs 3 lakh was drawn by each ward for electrification, road maintenance and setting up of community well .
Residents, at the same time, expressed resentment that the amount sanctioned and the progress of work is not corresponding.
Some even openly lodged a complain against the commissioner of Ward No 10 for unimpressive construction of a well for the ward.
Hinting that development funds are pocketed by few individuals, some Ward members urged the concerned authority to monitor the fund sanctioned for ward development.
