Imphal, March 05 2019:
Demanding the State Government to remove the Tribal Affairs and Hills Director Joseph Pauline, who is also the Chairman of the Management Committee of Tribal Market, New Lambulane from his posts by March 10, Tribal Market Vendors' Association (TMVA) has announced that the association will launch intense mode of agitations from March 11 if the Government fails to meet its demand.
Addressing a press meet at the complex of Tribal Market, New Lambulane today, TMVA treasurer Rebecca Baite informed that Under Secretary, TA & Hills had issued a notification for selecting 10 outsiders as members of the Managing Committee of the Tribal Market Complex on March 14, last year.
She further explained that, as per a directive given by Tribal Affairs and Hills Minister, TMVA had previously selected nine vendors and submitted their names to the authority concerned only to be included as members of the Management Committee of the Tribal Market Complex, New Lambulane, before the issuance of the March 14 notification.
Following TMVA's strong opposition of the March 14 notification, a new order enlisting the names of 10 outsiders, including nine of the people who were included in the previous order (March 14) was again issued by Under Secretary of Tribal Affairs and Hills on April 17 the same year, the treasurer added.
She said that the names of the outsiders included in the orders issued by TA & Hills are against the wish of TMVA and contrary to the names selected and submitted to TA & Hills Development Minister by the association (TMVA) .
Maintaining that Joseph Pauline no longer deserves to be designated as the Director of Tribal Affairs and Hills as well as the Chairman of the Management Committee of Tribal Market, New Lambulane, Rebecca demanded that Joseph Pauline must be removed from his incumbent posts by the State Government by March 10 this year.
She continued that TMVA with the help of like minded CSOs in the State will launch intense mode of agitations from the next day of the deadline if the Government fails to fulfil the association's demand.
Further conveying that a miscommunication between some media persons and TMVA has led to misquote Joseph Pauline as the Managing Director of Manipur Tribal Development Corporation as well as Chairman of TA & Hills in a news items related to a sit-in-protest carried out by the vendors of Tribal Market, New Lambulane on March 2, Rebecca clarified that Joseph Pauline should be designated as the Director of TA & Hills as well as the Chairman of the Management Committee of the Tribal Market, New Lambulane.
