Rabi crop seeds distributed at Ukhrul

The Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul, Kengoo Zuringla on Wednesday distributed the high yielding variety Rabi seeds to more than 156 farmers of Ukhrul district at DRDA Conference hall Hamleikhong, Ukhrul.
Speaking at the occasion, the DC, Ukhrul stated that the State Government is giving its best effort to improve the rural economy by providing various schemes and beneficiaries programmes to the unemployed youths and farmers.
She continued that the rural peoples have inborn work culture and knowledge of cultivation.
Therefore, she urged the farmers to undergo training on modem farming techniques to increase the crop yields and expand their market to bring a sustainable economy.
The growing culture of dependency to others for our food will only bring backwardness to our society, she asserted.
Observing that it's time to cultivate a work culture, the DC called upon the farmers to work hard by shouldering one's own responsibility in order to become self-sufficient in food production.
Meanwhile, District Horticulture & Soil Conservation officer KH Manorama stated that the farmers were given suitable Rabi seeds for cultivation of crops in their respective villages.
She continued that a training programme on the cultivation of the high yielding varieties of Rabi seed to the beneficiary farmers was also organised before by the department to ensure that the distributed seed grows and harvest abundantly without fail.
She also appealed to the farmers willing to avail the benefits to submit the required documents at the office on time.
The Rabi crop seeds which includes garden peas, potatoes, onion, cabbage and cauliflowers were distributed to all the farmers at free of cost as part of their livelihood enhancement programme.
The seed distribution was organised by the District Officer, Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Ukhrul under the Chief Minister's initiatives on Livelihood Revival at Youths and Farmers and Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture 2024-2025 under phase I.The distribution programme was attended by over 100 farmers including the officers and staff of the Department of Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Ukhrul.
