COCOMI Students' Front condemns Army Chief

Imphal, October 04 2024: The student front of the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) too has condemned Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi for making false statements in the media about the Manipur crisis.

The statements the Army Chief made reflects his biased approach to the crisis and it shows his alleged support for the Kuki militants, said the student front in the statement.

When the Security Advisor and DGP have openly made statements on the use of drones for bombings, the Army Chief has claimed that there have been no drone bombings in Manipur.

Such as this, the Security Advisor, and the security agencies have made contradictory statements on many occasions which seem to have been designed to cause confusion and make fools of the people, it said.

When the Kuki militants have used drones to bomb and fire rockets on civilian settlements, the Government of India and its security agencies have not taken up any actions against them.

Even when India's own security has been threatened, the Government has not yet acted against the masterminds of the conflict--particularly the leaders of the KNA and ZRA, it said.

"The Government of India has not withdrawn SoO even when India's security has been threatened and it has credible information that the leaders of the Kuki militant organisations are foreigners.

One of the leaders of the Kuki militant organisations is the husband of a Minister in the Manipur Government.

When the Government knows all these, it has not acted against them at all," it said.

Considering the circumstances and the situation, the student front said it is time for the people of the State to start a non-cooperation movement against the Central security forces.

It urged the public to collectively take a resolution to shun sale of goods to personnel of Central forces.

The Manipur conflict, since May 3, 2023, has killed over 220 people and displaced more than 60,000 people who are staying in relief camps acorss the State.
