Jiribam, September 04 2024:
Hospital Monitoring Committee Jiribam (HMCJ) has locked the Outpatient Department (OPD) of the lone hospital in Jiribam district at Uchathol and the CMO office at Babupara for three days.
The HMCJ with the support of Jiribam locals took this drastic step due to the failure of the relevant authorities to fulfill their demands which include plugging the shortage of medical staff and appointment of a regular CMO.
Notably, representatives of HMCJ had travelled to Imphal and met with the Health Minister, Health Director and Special Secretary Health concerning the transfer of three doctors, including the former CMO, from Jiribam Hospital in August and the failure to send their replacement.
With no positive response from the concerned authorities, HMCJ also organised a sit-in protest recently.
Finally, as their demands continue to remain unfulfilled, the HMCJ with the support of Jiribam locals have shut down the Jiribam Hospital OPD and CMO office for three days.
HMCJ have cautioned that more intense agitations will be launched if their demands are not met within the next three days.
