NYK, Chandel takes up relief works at flood, Landslide affected areas

Chandel, August 04 2015: Under the supervision of the District Administration Chandel, the District Youth Coordinator, Nehru Yuva Kendra Chandel along with National Youth Corps volunteers today participated in the relief works being carried out at flood and landslide affected areas under Chandel district.

On August 3, District Youth Coordinator of NYK Chandel along with the National Youth Corps volunteers visited the flood affected areas of Island village.

NYK volunteers along with Public Health Engineering Department staff distributed drinking water to the people of Island village.

On August 4 under the supervision of the SDO Tengnoupal, the District Youth Coordinator, NYK Chandel along with 50 youth leaders and volunteers visited the flood and landslide affected areas of Parbung village (which is situated between Sita and Tengnoupal) and Reamlam centre.

The volunteers also distributed relief materials like rice to the villagers.

Kuki Students' Organisation, Thadou Students' Association and former NYC of NYK, Chandel Zalang are taking active part in the relief works undertaken at Joumol village.

On August 2, PHED, Chandel and youth club members of six different villages distributed drinking water at Kamcha Kids Care Centre, Aimol road; Theimuikung village, Island village, Khuthathang, Terahai and Tuishimi village under Tengnoupal sub division.

50 youth leaders and volunteers of NYK Chandel will also be deployed at Machi Block for further extension of voluntary services to the flood and landslide affected areas at the earliest, NYK, Chandel District Youth Coordinator W Ibohal Singh stated.
