Kumbi Municipal Council assists storm victims

Bishnupur, May 04 2019:
Four families who are victims of the April 15 violent storm have been provided relief, said Kumbi Municipal Council Chairperson W Priyoranjan during a press meet held at Setupur Mamang Leikai on May 1.About 13 families were affected by the storm.
The relief materials were provided to the victims whose houses were damaged in the storm, he said.
Reliefs were provided to Langpoklakpam Thoiba, Langpoklakpam Apik, Borsing and Langpoklakpam Borajao Singh of Setupur Maning Leikai.
On April 16, Kumbi Municipal Council and 42 Assam Rifles had distributed relief materials to the four families.
District administration Bishnupur on April 19 had distributed rice, grains, and other edible items to the families, he added.
He also clarified that certain reports that appeared on newspapers that the victims have not been provided any assistance are false and baseless.
The Kumbi Municipal Council has been in touch with the victims and providing assistance, he said.
Relief provided by the Kumbi Municipal Council focuses on the four families whose houses were extensively damaged by the storm, he said and added that the remaining 9 houses were partly damaged by the storm.
