Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Thoubal in association with Manipur Small Farmer's Agri Business Consortium organized a one-day training programme on "Market Led Extension" Mangal Maheikol, Nongpok Lourembam, Thoubal District today.
The one-day training was conducted under the aegis of National Institute of Agricultural Marketing, Jaipur while DC Thoubal Haobam Roshita, Project Coordinator Manipur Small Farmer's Agri Business Consortium MS Khaidem, Sr Scientist & Head KVK Thoubal Dr Zeshmarani Sarangthem and Social Worker L Sarat Singh attended the programme as presidium members.
Speaking at the occasion, chief guest Haobam Roshita said that the farmers can capitalize on the new technology and advanced method of cultivation for better yields by consulting the officials of the relevant department.
She continued many vast fertile agricultural lands can be used to cultivate suitable seasonal vegetables and food grains to increase the food produce.
Project Coordinator Manipur Small Farmer's Agri Business Consortium, MS Khaidem said that the farmers should change their way of cultivation according to the demand of the market while adding that priority should be given to the most demanded vegetables or food grains while cultivating.
With the coming of Green Revolution, agricultural produce has increased doubled but the income cannot be doubled comparatively, he added.
He continued that even though humans used pesticides and fertilizers to double their agricultural produce, the income generation failed to match the expenses incurred.
Therefore, to cope with this imbalance, focus should be put more on to lower the expenses to produce the food products and as such the farmers can take help from KVK in this regard, he added.
