Padma Shri Machihan Sasa lauds AR

Padma Shri Awardee Machihan Sasa of Nungbi village lauded the 35 Assam Rifles and HQ lO Sector AR, Ukhrul for their support and helping him receive Padma Shri Award for preserving and promoting ancient art of Longpi black pottery.
The local artisan stated that the Assam Rifles' support has made a huge difference in his work and helped him progress in life.
He stated that the Assam Rifles constructed a new pottery shed for him, installed solar lights for uninterrupted power supply during work hours, a washing machine and chairs.
The recommendation letter from DIG 10 Sector AR, Somsai Ukhrul had helped him in the nomination for Padma Shri Award -2024, he added.
Padma Shri Machihan Sasa stressed that the dedicated services extended to local artisans and craftsmen by the Assam Rifles in upscaling their skills of artisans is remarkable and expressed belief that the Assam Rifles will continue their support in the same spirit.
On the other hand, the family of Wungnaoshang Vashum also expressed gratitude to the 40 AR for their swift action for pulling out the fallen vehicle Wungnaoshang Vashum near the Gamnoum areas while returning from Shingcha.
The AR team acted swiftly and evacuated the victim from the spot to their Unit Hospital at Shangshak and administered necessary medical treatment and examination.
