Imphal, February 03 2022:
Many have reacted strongly against the Union Budget 2022 presented by the Finance Minister and have termed it as a budget which is against the working class and weaker sections of the society.
The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India termed the Union Budget presented by the Finance Minister on February 1, 2022 as the most disastrous one which will further widen the gap between the haves and have nots.
The Budget proposals announced by the Finance Minister are totally disastrous and deceptive since there is no concrete proposal that would help the economic revival, said a press release by CPI, Central Office.
The Finance Minister has claimed that the estimated growth would be at 9.2 per cent but there is no reason to believe that this would actually materialize, alleged the party.
Above all, there is no plan in the budget to generate more employment to alleviate the problems which have been worsened due to the ongoing pandemic and it has also not addressed the issue of inflation.
The party also alleged that the Government has been weakening the public sector by privatizing them and maintained that the Government is keen on accentuating the class divide in the education sector resulting in the denial of access to poor Dalits, tribals and the downtrodden to higher education.
So too the government's treatment of the health and social sectors.
Thus, the Budget has not addressed any of the current economic challenges and is directed only to serve corporate and big business houses for their loot, added the statement.
The Manipur State Council, CPI has strongly opposed the Union Budget 2022 and in a statement maintained that no scope for development has been proposed in the budget.
Expressing strong discontentment, the All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), Manipur State Committee has stated that the budget will further deteriorate the economic divide since it has no room for the poor and needy sections of the society.
The United Front Manipur too has called the Union Budget 2022, a fraud committed on people only to satisfy profit greed of monopolists.
The UFM in a press release said that this budget has defrauded the multitudes of toiling millions by pleasing the monopolist lobby and is negligent to people's interest.
