One village from Andro AC to be adopted as model village

Imphal, February 03 2020: A village in Andro A/C, Imphal East district, will be identified for adoption as a model village by KVK, Andro, thereby ensuring the plantation of a suitable crop there.

This was conveyed by VC of Central Agricultural University (CAU), Iroishemba, Imphal Professor M Premijit Singh, while speaking to media persons on the sideline of the 12th Scientific Advisory Committee Meeting (SAC) which was held at CAU, Iroishemba, Imphal today.

The VC further informed that the identification of the village and the choosing of a suitable crop to be planted there, will be done by March this year.

"The matter for identification of a village for development as a model village to plant a suitable crop and boost the crop has been discussed as a main agenda during the SAC Meeting which was held today", he said.

Premjit went on to maintain that the plan to adopt a village in Andro A/C by KVK as a model village, is a part of the endeavor to fulfill Prime Minister Narendra Modi's wish for doubling farmers' income in the country by 2020.He added that doubling farmers' income in the State will be hard to fulfill unless special emphasis is given to boosting suitable crops and animal husbandries in certain specific locations.

He highlighted that the main agendas of the 12th SAC Meeting include presentations of achievements during 2019-20, Annual Action Plan (April, 2020 to March, 2021), finalization and approval of Annual Action Plan delineating in output and impact of next year.

The VC also said that matters related to achievements of 11th SAC Meeting have been thoroughly discussed and retrospected during today's SAC meeting.

CAU, Director of Extension Education Dr RK Saha, ICAR, NE Region, Umiam Director Dr N Prakash, ICAR, Atari, Zone VII, Umiam, Director Dr BC Deka and many other high ranking officials from various line departments of CAU, Krishi Vigyan Kendra and ICAR also participated at the SAC meeting.
