YTSMCL celebrates Foundation Day, literary awards distributed

Thoubal, January 03 2025: Yairipok Thambalnu Sahitya Marup cum Library (YTSMCL) celebrated its 32nd Foundation Day today at its office located at Yairipok Bamol Leikai.

The Foundation Day of YTSMCL was marked by the presentation of Dr Romesh Kumar Thiyam Memorial Literary Award, 2024 and poetry session.

The programme was attended by Wangkhem Assembly Constituency MLA and MPCC president, Keisham Meghachandra as chief guest, YTSMCL president, Rajendra Mutum as functionary president and Sahitya Kala Academy New Delhi, Manipuri Language Advisory Board, former convenor, Prof Huirem Behari, YTSMCL founder and chief advisor, Raghubir Thiyam and Mutum Shama Devi as guests of honour.

As part of the programme, floral tributes were offered on the portraits of late Dr Thiyam Romesh, Mutum Rajdhon, Sahitya Lup members and martyrs who have sacrificed for the motherland and one minute silence was also observed in honour of the departed souls.

Later, Dr Romesh Kumar Thiyam Ningshing Literary Award, 2024 was awarded to Thangjam Ibopishak of Wangkhei Thangjam Leikai for his poetry book "Numitna Chingya Thanglakle".

The award includes a cash prize, traditional shawl and citation.

A poem recitation session was also held moderated by RK Hemabati.
