Wildlife protection drive

With a view to safeguard wildlife and spread awareness on protection of wildlife, a joint wildlife protection drive was conducted in and around Khoidumpat yesterday.
Members of Unique Wildlife Protection Committee, Manipur along with the Forest Department including the staff of Kakching Range Office, BO Pallel, BO Waikhong and BO Wangoo Lamkhaj and the Honorary District Wildlife Warden, Thoubal, W Ramachandra Singh were present in the drive.
The officials and members of the committee found only one bird trap during the day-long drive.
After the drive, the joint members met with the Zilla Parishad and Panchayat members of Khoidumpat.
The joint team sought their support in protecting wildlife animals including migratory birds in their area.
They stated that wildlife are the best gift of God to mankind and to the planet and added that to protect these valued wildlife, the public under the leadership the elected leaders should play the vital role.
Although many NGOs and clubs collaborate with the Forest Department to safeguard the wildlife, the public should also take the initiative and extend support to the organisations, they asserted.
The joint team urged all the concerned to support the Forest Department, Manipur in protecting the wildlife animals and the migratory birds.
