Imphal, November 02 2011: Despite quoting the Union Home Minister as stating, "He also stated that the tripartite talk on the UNC memorandum demanding an Alternative Arrangement must be resumed at an early date," the United Naga Council has nonetheless asserted that the total bandh as well as economic blockade will continue as announced earlier.

In a statement, UNC said that the bandh and economic blockade have been called to protest against the persistent attempt of the State Government to bifurcate Naga areas without their consent.

The MoU signed with the SHDDC, which indicates that Sadar Hills would be upgraded to district status after the District Re-organisation Committee, is a case in point, said UNC.
