2 women suffers suspected food poisoning after drinking packaged water

In a suspected case of food poisoning, two women from Kangpokpi DHQs suffered severe ailment on May 22 midnight after drinking packaged drinking water which they bought from an unknown person at Paona bazar in Imphal.
The cousin sisters identified as Nemneithem (Nemcha) Misao (40), w/o Ngampu Misao of Kangpokpi Ward No 12 and Chinthem Gangte (50), w/o Thangkhomang Gangte of Phaicham veng, Ward No 1 Kangpokpi DHQs went to Imphal for medical checkup and had their lunch at a tribal hotel in front of Raj Medicity at around 11.30 am after their checkup.
Then, they went for marketing at Paona bazar where they purchased the packaged water from a person who was selling the packaged drinking water roaming about the market.
Speaking to media persons at her Kangpokpi residence, Nemcha Misao said that the man sold the packaged water bottle of Rs 20 at Rs 10 only.
"After drinking the water and upon returning home, at around 11.30 at night I suffered acute pain in my stomach and gaseous distension.
At that moment, my sister's husband called and informed that my sister was suffering the same," she said.
Her husband rushed her to the District Hospital and afterward admitted at Medicine ICU till May 31 before shifting to the general ward on June 1."I could not regain my strength and the pain would not go away for 2/3 days," she said.
The incident has been reported to the Food Safety Department Kangpokpi and they have collected samples of the water along with the bottle on Friday for examination, she said.
Chinthem Gangte is still hospitalized at JNIMS Hospital Imphal till filing of this report.
