International Labour Day observed at Moirang, Moreh, Tbl

As celebrated globally, International Labour Day was celebrated at the Conference Hall of Moirang Municipal Council, Bishnupur District on the theme 'Uniting Workers for Social and Economic Advancement' yesterday.
The observance function organized by Moirang Municipal Council was attended by Director MAHUD Th Harikumar Singh as chief guest and Executive Officer Moirang Municipal Council H Pradeepkuamr Singh as functional president while staff of the council including skill and unskill labour also took part in the function.
During the function, uniform sets comprising rubber boot, hand glove, rain coat etc, were distributed to sanitary workers of the council including 9 sweepers, 2 drivers and sanitary in-charge.
Speaking at the occasion, chief guest Harikumar Singh said that sanitary workers played important role in keeping the ward area neat and clean and appreciated the council for acknowledging their work through the function adding that it is also everyone's duty to keep their surrounding clean.
He continued that National Green Tribunal is mainly focusing on various steps taken up by the Corporate and Council of each State of India to make India a clean and hygienic country.
Following which, Manipur is paying a sum of Rs 1 crore every month as fine for not maintaining Nambul river to its desired standard as prescribed by NGT.
Informing the public that for 2020, Swachch Survekshan has already started from January this year, he appealed all especially the residents covered by Moirang Municipal Council to segregate waste products into two bags as biodegradable and non-biodegrable while disposing it to garbage trucks of the council.
Urging the public to make the effort of the council successful, he also appealed the Club, NGOs or Self Help Groups to join hand with the council so that all their efforts be paid off.
Executive Officer, Pradeepkumar said that Moirang Municipal Council is a medium-sized council inhabitated by more that 20000 people and added that it is of paramount importance to keep the area tidy as the place attracts thousands of tourists every year.
However, due to inadequate numbers of sanitary workers and vehicles employed by Moirang Municipal Council, it faced lots of challenges in discharging its duties at the optimal level, the EO drew the attention of the Director and urged the sanitary workers to continue giving their best to keep the area neat and clean.
Tengnoupal: International Labour Day, organized by Indo-Myanmar Labour Union, Moreh, was observed at Gamnom Lenthol Ground, Moreh yesterday.
The observance function was attended by Commandant, 43 Assam Rifles Col Sumit Sood, Town Commander, 43 AR, Major RK Sharma, General Secretary, Tamil Sangam Moreh, Bala and Advisor, Indo-Myanmar Labour Union Moreh, Seiboi Haokip as dignitaries while IMLU card holder labourer of Indo-Myanmar Labour Union, Moreh were also present.
Thoubal: District Legal Services Authority, Thoubal in association with Manipur Women Federation, Legal Aid Clinic Yairipok and Social Development Organisation, under the aegis of Manipur State Legal Services Authority, observed International Labour Day followed by a one day legal awareness programme.
The programme was organised at Pallel Maning Leikai community hall in which Kakching Kendra MLA Y Surchandrana graced the event as the chief guest, Family Court Thoubal Judge S Imomacha Singh as functional president, Pallel PS OC MS Heisnam, Pallel Gram Panchayat Up-Pradhan S Joykumar Singh as the guest of honour.
Speaking at the legal awareness programme as resource persons, Advocate N Madhu Singh spoke on cyber crime and NALSA scheme while Advocate Th Premlata Devi explained about domestic violence and International Labour Day.
