Imphal, November 01 2019: Taking serious note of an unconfirmed news report that was aired on a local TV channel, under the heading, "Demand for Greater Nagalim of NSCN-IM," the State Government has served a show cause notice to the News Editor of the said TV channel.

Telecasting such unconfirmed, unverified and unofficial news had caused anxiety among different sections of the public, said the show cause notice and questioned why necessary steps should not be taken up under Section 19 of the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995 and also for not complying with the advisory of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

A written explanation has been sought latest by 5 pm of November 2, failing which necessary action as deemed fit shall be initiated without further notice, added the show cause.
