Mass cleaning campaign organised under Swachhta Hi Sewa

As a part of the Swacchta Hi Sewa Campaign which began in September 15 for Bishnupur district as well, Manipur Pollution Control Board chairman, L Radhakishwor Singh and Bishnupur DC, Bobby Waikhom, flagged off a truck from Moirang Petrol pump, today, with an aim to clean the important areas and locations including markets (mainly rural areas) along the National Highway 150, between Moirang and Nambol .
Various officials and staff participated in the cleanliness drive which was organised by Public Health Engineer Department, Manipur Pollution Control Board and District Co-ordinating Committee (Swachh Bharat Mission) Bishnupur .
PHED Bishnupur Division, EE, L Gokulchandra Singh, PHED Bishnupur, AE, K Bishworjit Singh and PHED Nambol, AE, Kh Ranbir Singh also took part in the event .
Speaking to media persons, L Radhakishwor said that the State Government has started taking up steps to eliminate the use of plastic from the State and to recycle these plastics .
He pointed out that the event has been organised mainly to clean the areas of plastic pollutants and added that steps will be taken up to make Bishnupur the first plastic free district in the State.
The chairman also said that only the Government cannot eradicate plastic from the State and the people also need to participate in the initiative .
He also stated that such steps will be taken up in various valley districts gradually and then to the hill districts as well.
On the other hand, the women members of Khut Sa Heibi Women Society, Moirang, under the aegis of Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, organised cleanliness drive from Ward Number 1 to 10 of Bishnupur district today.
