Kumbi Urban Development Committee (KUDC) has expressed discontent over the unavailability of fertilizer when it is needed.
In a statement issued yesterday, KUDC said the farmers are already facing the problem of pandemic and scanty rainfall and now the problem of unavailability of fertilizer has taken the hardship faced by the farmers to an unprecedented level.
Members of KUDC interacted with farmers of different ACs in Bishnupur district and they expressed the same concern that despite the presence of Kumbi lake, Khuga river and RLI pumping stations, inadequate irrigation canals and facilities has led to inability to provide water to the fields.
Despite these, the farmers have managed to pump adequate water to the fields, but now their is inadequate supply of fertilizer, without which the productivity will fall down.
KUDC added in the statement that last year 60,000 bags of fertilizer was provided for Bishnupur district while the quota has reportedly been reduced to just 10,000 bags.
