Nupilal Memorial Association Manipur has appealed for the furnishing of solid evidence that proves the participation of Muslim women in the historic Women's War (Nupi Lan) .
The request was made by Longjamba Netaji, secretary, Steering Committee, Nupilal Memorial Association Manipur during a press conference held at the office of the Association at Sagolband Tera Keithel today.
Addressing the media persons, Longjamba Netaji said that in December of 2013, United Manipur Muslim Women Development Organisation submitted a written application for the inclusion of 30 Muslim women into the list of freedom fighters who participated in the Nupi Lan movement.
Following this, a thorough research was conducted while referencing State experts, administrative reports, State archives, gazettes etc.
However, no proof was found that supported the claim that Muslim women took part in the Women's War, Longjamba Netaji alleged.
The Steering Committee secretary further said that the Association also intimated this finding to the United Manipur Muslim Women Development Organisation.
"If evidence supporting the involvement of Muslim women in the Women's War exists, please furnish it in the public domain", he requested.
Lastly, he maintained that following this, the Association will hold the necessary dialogue.
