Imphal, November 30 2021: At least five persons, including four security escorts of BJP State unit president A Sharda Devi sustained injuries in a road accident that occurred this morning at Taokuamjang, Noney district.

Reportedly, the accident occurred at around 9.45 am when A Sharda Devi along with her escorts were on their way to Longmei Common Ground to attend a one day political conference organised by BJP Nungba Mandal there.

The BJP chief was to reach the conference venue from Bishnupur side by passing through Tongjei Maril (Old Cachar Road) and Tupul.

It is reported that one olive green Maruti Gypsy which was on the back end of the escort team collided head on with an ambulance at Taokuamjang which is adjacent to Tupul Part-II.

All the injured individuals which include four personnel of 7 MR were in the Gypsy.

They were rushed to Noney PHC before being airlifted to Imphal on the advice of doctors there.

They are now receiving treatment at Raj Medicity and one of the injured persons is said to be in critical condition.
