Constructive joint effort needed for success of Swasth SHG Pariwar : Shyamkr

A one day sensitization workshop on 100 days impact initiative on Swasth SHG Pariwar was organized today by Manipur Development Agency (MUDA) at the City Convention Centre, Palace Compound, Imphal East.
Swasth SHG Pariwar is an initiative to link all the eligible Self-Help Group (SHG) members with the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) and POSHAN Abhiyaan besides organising health check-up for all SHG members by October 2, 2019.Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) initiated Swastha SHG Pariwar as an intervention to address the out of pocket expenditure on treatment of illness which is one of the important determinants of urban poverty.
The objective of Swasth SHG Pariwar is to substantially improve access of SHG members to quality healthcare in empanelled hospitals and improve their overall standard of living on a sustainable basis.

The initiative requires inter-departmental coordination and participation covering departments of Health, Women and Child Welfare and Municipal Administration/Urban Development.
MoHUA will implement Swastha SHG Pariwar under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Urban Livelihood Mission (DAY-NULM).
Implemented in 2014, DAY-NULM aims to reduce the poverty and vulnerability of urban poor households.
At present, DAY-NULM consists of over 38 lakh urban poor households across the country.
In Manipur, workshops will be organized at the State level for the functionaries of NULM, National Health Mission, Women and Child Development and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) officials to sensitise on the objectives of the Swasth SHG Pariwar.
Speaking as the chief guest of the function, MAHUD Minister, Thounaojam Shyamkumar said that coordination between various departments is essential for the success of Swasth SHG Pariwar.
Lauding the officials for presenting him plant saplings at the function, he stressed on the need for discussion, widespread awareness and implementation of various works related to environmental conservation.
He opined that for overall improvement of standard of living, mass awareness on vital issues like climate change, environmental conservation is the need of the hour.
Shyamkumar then appealed to every stakeholders of the society to come forward to fight climate change.
N Bandana Devi, CEO, State Health Agency, spoke about the benefits provided under the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.
Stating that free hospitalization of upto Rs 5 lakh per year per family is given under the AB-PMJAY to the poor, deprived families and identified occupational categories of urban worker families as per the SECC, 2011, she said those who are not under the SECC 2011 can avail the benefit of free hospitalization of upto Rs 2 lakh per year per family under the Chief Ministergi Hakshel-gi Tengbang (CMHT).
She further said that so far 4,400 beneficiaries have availed medical treatment benefits under the AB-PMJAY in the State and 129 beneficiaries received medical treatment outside the State.
Urging the people to focus on healthy lifestyle, she added that mass awareness cum enrolment campaign will also be conducted soon at various locations in the State.
Ng Uttam Singh, Director, Social Welfare Department, spoke on the benefits which are provided under the POSHAN Abhiyaan (National Nutrition Mission) which is a flagship programme of the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD).
POSHAN Abhiyaan aims to improve the nutritional outcome for children, adolescents, pregnant women and lactating mothers.
He highlighted that the flagship programme ensures convergence with various programmes like Anganwadi Services, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), Scheme for Adolescent Girls (SAG) of MWCD's Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY).
POSHAN Abhiyaan is a multi-Ministerial convergence mission with the vision to ensure attainment of malnutrition free India by 2022, he added.
The workshop was also attended by M Joy Singh, Commissioner, MAHUD, Th Harikumar Singh, Director, MAHUD, Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of various Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), Executive Officers of various ULBs, SHGs and officials of MUDA, among others.
