Imphal, April 30 2015 :
All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) has said that volunteers of the student's body will start monitoring sale of petrol at different petrol pumps from May 2 if normal sale of petrol is not resumed by May 1 .
A team of AMSU volunteers today visited IOC oil depot at Sangakpham and checked the stock position of petrol, said a statement.
It added that as there is enough stock at the depot, there is a strong suspicion that some individuals in connivance with Government officials are creating artificial scarcity of petrol in the State.
Apart from the inconvenience caused by frequent bandhs, general strikes and blockades, people have been facing the problem of petrol scarcity since the past couple of weeks, the statement said.
At this juncture, some police personnel are seen allegedly helping the black marketers instead of arresting them, the statement said and added that as a result the price of petrol has shot up to Rs 150 per litre in the black market.
