Skill development training for Chandel fish farmers concludes

A three-day skill development training programme for fish farmers of Chandel district under Tribal Sub Plan, organised by ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Kolkata Centre in collaboration with Fisheries Department concluded on February 24.The programme was conducted at the district level fish seed farm at Komlathabi, Chandel district.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr A Chmglemkhomba, Addl DC Chandel emphasised the need of appropriate fish farming to increase productivity.
Dr I Meghachandra, Joint Director, ICAR Research Complex for NEH, Manipur Centre called for horizontal expansion of fish farming in hilly areas.
Meanwhile, Mahesh Choudhary, Asst Commissioner Chandel, R Zinda Moyon, village chief, Kapaam Komlathabi village, Chandel attended the event as guests of honour.
During the three days programme, Dr S Munilkumar, Principal Scientist, Dr Sujata Sahoo, Scientist and P K Behara, Sr Technical Assistant, ICAR-CIFE, Kolkata Centre along with Dr Y Bedajit, Deputy Director (Instruction), CAU, Imphal interacted with various aspects of recent fish farming trends, composite fish culture, integrated fish farming, nursery management, water quality testing and health management etc.
76 trainees including 29 females participated in the skill development programme.
