Free eye camp concludes

The one month long free eye and cataract operation camp (July 27-August 29) at SKY Hospital, Porompat has concluded yesterday.
The inaugural function of the camp was graced by the Social Welfare Minister AK Mirabai Devi and Khangabok AC MLA O Landhoni Devi as the chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
While appreciating SKY eye care foundation for organising such a large free eye camp, the chief guest and the guest of honour also donated some financial aid to the organising committee.
Free transport services were provided to the patients hailing from Lilong, Yairipok, Heirok, Wangjing, Tentha and Kakching to help them reach the camp on time.
Free medicines were also provided to the needy patients.
Seven patients with cataract, two with pterygium, one with entropion regained their eyesight after being operated in the camp.
Several other eye operations were also performed at the SKY Hospital Research Centre, Porompat using sophisticated imported German-made Carl Zeiss operating microscope.
Free intra-ocular lenses (IOL) and spectacles were provided to the patients and moreover free transport to and from SKY hospital and Thoubal was also provided to them.
This was the third free eye treatment camp held after the first two others held at Bishnupur and Thoubal, organised by the SKY eye care foundation.
Chairman of SKY Group of Hospitals Dr L Shyamkishore who is the architect of this philanthropic service to the people of the State stated that the organisation will continue to provide such free eye camps in all the districts of Manipur.
Other philanthropic organisations like Rotary Club, Lions Club etc, district authorities, district NGOs etc are requested to help organise such free eye camps at all districts, he added.
