Imphal, July 30 2015:
The All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) has categorically stated that its volunteers and volunteers of all local and district level clubs/organisations which have been working together with AMUCO will take on all those elements who have been scheming to derail or undermine the mass movement for protection of indigenous people.
A statement issued by AMUCO asserted that some Congress MLAs, Ministers and their supporters have been scheming to project the ongoing movement in the wrong light and ultimately derail it.
The incumbent Congress Government is never serious on the popular demand for protection of indigenous people.
Although the ongoing movement has been gaining strength day by day, some elements have been working to undermine the movement deliberately.
All those elements should be identified and taught befitting lessons, AMUCO asserted.
There is a need to carry forward the mass movement until its objective is achieved.
Since there should be someone which acts as the guide or frontrunner of a mass movement, the JCILPS and the JAC Against the Brutal Killing of Sapam Robinhood may take decisions regarding the movement from time to time.
On the other hand, the State Government has been waiting for the ongoing movement to wither out with the passage of time.
Congress Ministers/MLAs and their agents have been inciting some elements to abuse media persons and attack vehicles/people who were transporting sick persons in the name of the ongoing movement.
Such diabolical activities demand immediate introspection on the part of all the protesters.
This time, the masses have been waging a sustained movement notwithstanding all the repressive measures unleashed by the Government.
Left with no other option, the Government ultimately constituted a five member (Bill) drafting committee.
But this is only a ploy to buy time and hoodwink the masses.
To AMUCO, the drafting committee is nothing more than a farce.
If the members of the drafting committee are not in a position to fulfil the people's wishes within the specified period, it would be better for them to quit the committee.
There is a need to carry on the movement collectively for protection of indigenous people in the State's contemporary and future interests, AMUCO added.
