MPCC seeks security for Dr Bimol

he Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has written to DGP Rajiv S ingh and Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Manipur Pradeep Kumar Jha to provide adequate security personnel to ensure the protection of INC candidate of the 18th Lok Sabha election (Inner seat) Dr Angomcha Bimol Akoijam.
This is in connection with unknown persons who visited the residence of the aforementioned candidate on March 28 in his absence and gave instructions to his family members to inform the candidate to meet them at Kombirei Garden on March 29 at around 8 am, as per MPCC.
The unknown persons numbering around 5 or 6 visited the INC candidate's residence again after a gap of an hour and repeatedly asked his family members "to ensure Dr Bimol Akoijam does not disobey their order," it added.
Urging the DGP and CEO to provide adequate security protection to the INC candidate, MPCC further said in their statement that lack of security arrangement may result in untoward incidents.
MPCC added that if such threats are repeated then they may hamper the conduct of a free and fair election.
