NEIDP releases poll manifesto

Newly formed North East India Development Party (NEIDP) has today released its manifesto and party symbol for the ensuing 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly election.
In a simple function held today at its head office located at Sagolband Tera Loukrakpam Leikai, the party chose 'Walking Stick' as its symbol.
NEIDP will make its electoral debut in the ensuing 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly election scheduled to be held in March.
The function today was attended by party president Narengbam Samarjit, party advisers such as Sanasam Sarat, Laimayum Gopeshore Sharma and other key functionaries of the party.
Later, addressing media persons, propaganda secretary of NEIDP, Brojendra Yumlembam said the party is born out of the aspirations of the people of Manipur and the entire North Eastern region who have been denied their rightful due in terms of development on all fronts.
The fact that about 7 lakh youths remain unemployed as of now is a reflection of 'no development' in Manipur.
Mainstream political party which has been in power most of the time since independence has failed to address issues like poverty, unemployment, health, illiteracy, he said.
Brojendra further said that NEIDP is committed to usher in a new era in the history of Manipur by ushering in an egalitarian, inclusive, secular, democratic and cultural-pluralist society based on Gandhian perspective.
It is dedicated to the task of building a prosperous and peaceful Manipur drawing inspirations from the rich heritage and noble traditions.
NEIDP's ideology is to foster democracy in all its dimensions�economic, political, socio-cultural, which the party is determined to deliver by learning from history and freedom struggle within the Gandhian framework, the party's propaganda secretary added.
NEIDP member secretary Wahengbam Khelindra sketched the outlines of the party's manifesto which was published both in Manipuri and English.
Reposing true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of India, upholding the political, social and economic rights for development of Manipur within the ambit of Indian Constitution, upliftment of marginalised sections of the society, equality of religions, promotion of peace and harmony among the multi-ethnic, multi-religious and multi-cultural communities, equal opportunities, ensuring the dignity, rights and security of workers, fight against terrorists and insurgents working against the Nation and posing threat to the unity and integrity of Manipur are amongst others highlights of the manifesto.
The party also said it will fight through peaceful means for the repeal of AFSPA in Manipur and parts of NE.
