Imphal, October 29 2016: Based on a specific information about the presence of some active members of NSCN-IM in and around Fairyland, Tangkhul Avenue, a team of Imphal East district police commandos launched an operation and arrested four active members of NSCN-IM, said a statement issued by the PRO, Police Department, Manipur.

The apprehendees have been identified as Ningkhangam Muivah alias Freeboy (37), s/o Vareisui Muivah of Somdal village, Ukhrul, Ramthem Muivah (35), s/o (L) Ronald Muivah of Somdal village, Ukhrul, Chonreishim Phunshok alias Rngai (33), s/o (L) Ningam Phungsok of Somdal village, Ukhrul and Vivin Ruivah alias Vena (40), s/o Tonshing Ruivah of Somdal village, Ukhrul.

All the four individuals were arrested from the residence of one Ningreingam Ruivah at Fairyland, Tangkhul Avenue, Imphal.

Investigation revealed that they were involved in extortion from general public, shopkeepers, Government offices etc for party fund and had come to Imphal on October 26 to collection extortion amount.

Incriminating articles along with Rs 6000 were also seized from their possession.

A case has been registered at Lamphel police station for further investigation.
