Murder of uncle case : Court to pronounce judgment on Sept 18

Session Court Imphal West has fixed September 18 for the announcement of the judgment in connection with the trial case (No 5 of 2016) against Khulem Jiten for killing one of his own uncles and injuring another on July 30, 2015.The continuation of the final argument hearing of the trial which began from early part of 2016 against the murder accused Khulem Jiten concluded today.
Jiten (41) s/o K Kendrajit of Naoremthong Khulem Leikai was produced before the Court by a police team under heavy security to prevent any kind of unwanted incident while he was being taken inside the Court room today as a large number of angry womenfolk and family members of the deceased had gathered in the Court complex waiting for him to be produced.
Today's hearing was in continuation of the final argument hearing of August 24.After hearing the necessary submission by the defense counsel and the APP for the State, the Court fixed September 18 for the announcement of judgment in connection with the case.
The womenfolk outside the Court room threw water bottles and slippers at Jiten when he was brought out from the Court room and led towards the prisoner van after the completion of the final hearing.
It may be mentioned that the trial commenced after the IO of the case submitted a charge sheet against the accused Khulem Jiten in the early part of 2015 and a charge was framed against him on February 19, 2016.The charge sheet was submitted after the completion of investigation against the accused in connection with the killing of his own uncle, Khulem Krishnamohan (51) and injuring another uncle, Khulem Priyobarta (56) on June 30, 2015.Altogether 19 prosecution witnesses from the side of the prosecution and some defense witnesses produced by the accused were examined during the one and half year long trial of the case.
During the trial, the accused was out on bail and was allegedly staying at the parental home of his wife at Top Khongnangkhong when he killed another one of his uncles, Khulem Tomba, on July 27 this year at Meitei Langol Punsi Leikai.
During police interrogation in connection with the second murder, it was revealed by Jiten that he had been planning to take revenge against (L) Kh Tomba for not allowing him to enter and live at his residence at Naoremthong Khulem Leikai after the 2015 incident.
