Bridge along IT road collapsed, culvert swept away in landslide

With a major bridge along IT road collapsed at T Waichong village near Tamei, movement of heavy vehicles along the said route have come to a grinding halt.
The problem has been further compounded following the damage of culvert in a massive landslide that occurred along IT road, thus cutting off Tamei from rest of the world.
Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar along with other officials paid a personal visit to T Waichong village to inspect the site where the bridge has been collapsed and take stock of
the situation.
During the inspection, the Minister also gave necessary instruction to the accompanying engineers concerned for constructing a Bailey bridge at the earliest possible for the conveniences of the people until repairing of the collapsed bridge.
Later, the Ministerial team visited another place in T Waichong where a culvert had been drained away by the impact of a massive landslide.
The place is located around 2 kms away from the site of the collapsed bridge.

The Minister witnessed officials of PWD in the process of constructing another culvert in the area.
The Ministerial team also came across that cracks have already started forming in another culvert in the area.
Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the inspection tour, Minister Kh Ratankumar informed that a new bailey bridge would be built in place of the old bridge, which has been collapsed.
Engineer Temba of PWD, who accompanied the Minister during the tour, told media persons that the collapsed bridge was one of the oldest bridges in the areas.
MLA Kikhonbou was also present during the inspection.
