NCC cadets soar to new heights with Microlight Aircraft training

As part of the NCC training program, cadets from Eastern Star Higher Secondary School, Khangabok (1 Manipur Air Sqn NCC, Imphal), had the unique opportunity to fly the Microlight Aircraft (Virus SW-80) as co-pilots under the expert guidance of Wing Commander M Herojit Singh at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport, Imphal on Friday and Saturday.
A release issued by ANO 3rd officer, Harishkumar Khundrakpam has stated that the initiative was aimed to inspire a new generation of aviators in the region, fostering essential skills in leadership, teamwork, and discipline through the NCC programs.
During the flight training all the NCC cadets were taught to control various aspects of flying, including takeoff, landing, banking, turning, altitude control and other maneuvers by the Unit Commanding officer.
The cadets were given thorough training, and the hand-on experience by the cadets was invaluable for their growth as future leaders, said Harishkumar.
The Associate NCC officer extended heartfelt thanks to Wing Commander M Herojit Singh, for his exceptional leadership and unwavering support in making this initiative a reality.
He continued that Herojit's dedication to the development of the cadets, as well as to fostering the spirit of aviation in the nation, has been a driving force behind the success of the training programme.
He also thanked the PI staff of the Indian Air Force for their invaluable contribution in providing technical expertise and ensuring the safety and success of the training.
The cadets also express their sincere gratitude to the Directorate General of NCC for providing them with the rare and invaluable opportunity to experience flying.
The cadets also expressed their gratitude to the Government of Manipur for its continued support of NCC programs and for facilitating such initiatives that inspire and empower the youth of Manipur.
The exposure to flying is expected to inspire the youth of Manipur to pursue careers as fighter pilots, further strengthening the region's aspirations in aviation.
