UCM donates relief materials to Tuinuphai villagers

The United Committee Manipur (UCM) has today donated relief materials to villagers of Tuinuphai who were made to abandon their homesteads and forced to celebrate Christmas in a relief camp, following a reported tussle for the chieftainship.
With a message of love and peace, the UCM team comprising of its President and General Secretary handed over the relief materials to villagers at Zogal Hall, their temporary shelter since the past week at around 2pm.The relief materials include 7 bags of rice, 2 bags each of Dal, Potato and Onion, besides a bag of salt and a tin of Oil.

Womenfolk in the relief camp said they have celebrated Christmas by holding fellowship inside the hall that double up as home and cooked in an adjoining private campus.
Village elders continued to maintain before the UCM's accompanying media team that the chief of Tuinuphai village is one Tongkhogin Tungdim, a man who had been reigning in the village for decades.
They also claimed that there are no pending cases with the court of law as far as the village chieftainship is concerned.
'We have won on two counts and there are no pending cases,' said one Jamlal.
