Poumai Union honours first women achievers

The Poumai Naga Women's Union held a felicitation programme at Khabung Karong Baptist Old Church under the theme "Celebrating Leadership, Achievements and Unity", honouring the first women achievers from the Poumai Naga community who have excelled in diverse professional fields.
In her presidential ad dress, Poumai Naga Women's Union president P Delilah Pao, described the day as a significant milestone for the Poumai Naga community, celebrating the accomplishments of their women.
She expressed hope that future felicitation programme would be held on a larger scale, but noted that the day's gathering of women leaders from various villages was a meaningful event.
The PNWU president highlighted the importance of such initiatives in inspiring younger generations to pursue excellence and aim for greater achievements.
She emphasised that these successes underscore relentless effort and determination, setting an example for the entire community.
Congratulating the first women achievers, Pao encouraged breaking stereotypes that undermine women's potential, asserting that women are capable of extraordinary accomplishments.
She urged women to remain steadfast in their pursuits and called on the patriarchal society to provide equal opportunities to daughters, just as demon strated by the achievements of the women achievers.
Pao expressed hope that these accomplishments would elevate the status of women and contribute to societal change.
Those honoured for their ground-breaking achievements included Dr Ht JC Anal, DIG (Medical), Assam Rifles: The first Poumai woman to hold this prestigious position; MCS M Sheveine, SDO/BDO Mao-Maram, Tadubi: Achieved Rank 7 in the 2022 Manipur Civil Services Examination, becoming the first Poumai woman to secure this distinction; MPS S Tryphena Reikhenamai, first Poumai woman to qualify for the Manipur Police Service through the 2022 MPSC examination; Hormila Zeneio, pastor All People's Church, Kohima: The first Poumai woman pastor, recognised for her faith, dedication, and leadership in ministry; and Salome Sewa, associate pastor Purul Akutpa Baptist Church (PNBA): Honoured as the first Poumai woman associate pastor, symbolising a new era of women's leadership in spiritual service.
