To monitor the student body elections of colleges, Joint Students' Coordinating Committee (JSCC) has formed an election monitoring cell and drafted a 14 point Election Code of Conduct to be enforced in colleges from October 28, said JSCC convenor Peter Laishram today.
Speaking to media persons at AMSU office in DM College campus, Peter said that the Monitoring Cell will closely monitor the conduct of the elections in the colleges.
Violation of the election code of conduct will result in disqualification of candidacy, he said urging all intended candidates to follow the code of conduct strictly to check unfair means.
He also urged the Principals and teachers of the colleges to closely monitor the election affairs in their respective institutions.
Convenor of the Monitoring Cell Khulllakpam Sarejuddin said that they will put maximum efforts to make the elections free and fair.
The Election Code of Conduct prohibits election campaigns outside college campus, house campaigns and organising feasts.
It also prohibits gifts, use of drugs and alcohol and picking up of students on election day.
