Court allows bail to AR personnel

Imphal, June 26 2019: Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal East, allowed the bail application filed by 26 Assam Rifles personnel Ningthoujam Shanker and ordered him to be released after he furnishes PR bond of Rs 50,000 along with 2 sureties each for the two cases which are registered against him.

The order was passed after the hearing of the bail application filed by Ningthoujam Shanker (36) s/o N Ingocha of Heirok Part II Bazaar through his counsel and during the hearing, the Court heard the submissions of both sides at length, went through the case record as well as the bail objection reports submitted for two different cases by Porompat PS.

After the proceeding, the Court ordered Ningthoujam Shanker to be released after he furnishes a PR bond of Rs 50,000 along with two sureties each.

However, as he was unable to furnish the said amount before the Court, Ningthoujam Shanker was further lodged in Manipur Central Jail Sajiwa.

It may be mentioned that Ningthoujam Shanker was arrested by Porompat police on June 7 for his alleged involvement in supplying a mobile phone to Th Nando while he was undergoing treatment at JNIMS.

On June 12, Shanker was formally arrested in another FIR case which was taken up by Porompat police in connection with the escape of Th Nando from JNIMS.
