Imphal, April 26 2015 : MEELAL conducted its 9th State level Meetei Mayek writing competition at 14 different centres today.

Speaking at the sidelines of the competition, MEELAL vice-president M Naokhomba Meitei said the organisation received letters from various hill areas requesting the same to arrange means for the people to learn the Meetei script.

As such, the the State ought to come up with a suitable design to include Meetei Mayek in the school curriculum of the hill areas.

There are no Meetei Mayek teachers posted in the hill areas, Naokhomba alleged.

The president further requested the State Government to recruit the 2013 TET Meetei Mayek eligible candidates as regular teachers as a possible measure to impart Meetei Mayek education across the State.
