Imphal, March 26 2018:
Altogether 10 non-local labourers engaged in boringpiles on Imphal River bank at Khurai Lairikyengbam Leikai who do not possess proper identification documents have been pulled up today.
Speaking to media persons at the Sega Road, Konjeng Hazari Leikai office of JCILPS this afternoon, its Students Wing convenor Manjit Sarangthem expressed strong suspicion about the presence of a clique who have been bringing in a large number of non-local people into the State whose antecedents are dubious.
Notably, another group of non-local labourers who did not posses proper identification documents were pulled up a few days back from a locality of Imphal.
On questioning, the nonlocal labourers told the JCILPS Students Wing that they were brought to Manipur by an agent named Babloo Gharani (38) who is a native of Bihar.
Even as Chief Minister N Biren has been attending to personal grievances and local problems by holding Meeyamgi Numit and Hill Leaders' Day every month, the Government has been paying little attention to the common issue of incessant influx.
The State Government must take due note of the fact that the State's labour market has been completely dominated by non-local people, and it should take up necessary remedial measures urgently, Manjit said.
He also appealed to the State Government to make the check-posts opened along Imphal-Jiribam and Imphal-Dimapur highways meaningful.
Incessant influx of non-local people from different parts of India has been posing serious threat to the indigenous people of the State, said the convenor.
He urged the Government to take up necessary measures which can effectively ward off any tumultuous situation before it is too late.
Meanwhile, police have taken away the 10 nonlocal labourers pulled up by the JCILPS Students Wing.
