Imphal, November 25 2011:
To ease congestion and ensure smooth flow of traffic within Thangal Keithel, Traffic Police have started implementing new traffic rules more vigorously.
The renewed initiative of Manipur Traffic Police which was launched in some parts of Thangal Keithel could significantly ease traffic flow which otherwise was always congested.
Traffic Police first implemented the renewed regulations in Dharamsala area of Thangal Keithel since November 23 .
Unlike earlier days, the new traffic regulations have prohibited parking of hand-carts and all kinds of vehicles on road-sides or lanes.
Moreover Traffic Police personnel have been deployed in many points so as to ensure that the new regulations are not violated.
Traffic Police also checked whether hotels, offices and residential buildings have the requisite parking space.
For those hotels/offices which have parking spaces, vehicles brought by their customers/staff were made to park in their own parking lots.
However, for those hotels/offices and residential buildings, all the vehicles brought there were not allowed to park within the area where the new traffic regulations have been enforced.
Nevertheless, the vehicles were allowed to park in the public parking lots identified by the Government.
Traffic Police DSP Victoria said that similar traffic regulations would be enforced in other parts of Thangal Keithel as well as Paona Keithel in phases.
She also sought full cooperation of the public towards the new initiative taken up by Traffic Police for easing traffic flow.
