Imphal, August 25 2024: A 1-day self-infusion training camp was successfully organised yesterday at the Medicine Ward of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) .

The training camp was jointly organised by the Intas Foundation, Department of Medicine at JNIMS, and Haemophilia Society Imphal Chapter.

According to a release issued by Intas Foundation, the training camp was aimed at empowering haemophilia patients with the skills required to perform self-infusion, a crucial technique for managing their condition.

Haemophilia, a genetic disorder that impairs the body's ability to make blood clots, requires regular infusion of clotting factors to prevent or control bleeding episodes.

Learning self-infusion can greatly improve the quality of life for patients by allowing them to manage their treatment independently.

The event saw active participation from patients and their families, who were given hands-on training by experienced medical professionals.

The session covered the importance of proper hygiene, correct method of infusion, and management of potential complications.

Participants expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to learn these vital skills, which they believe will greatly enhance their ability to manage their condition independently.

The success of this event has set a positive precedent for future collaborations aimed at improving the lives of those living with haemophilia in the region.
