Songte leaves 'IM' to join KNO

Pu Songte Kom, who was a Member of Parliament in NSCN (IM) reportedly left the Naga rebel group and joined Kuki National Organisation (KNO) today.
In a statement, Under Secretary, Information and Publicity of KNO Stephen Kuki said that it was a privilege for KNO to welcome Songte Kom who took the decision of leaving NSCN (IM) to join his own ethnic brothers in KNO on this day of December 24, 2013. Songte's return to his Kuki people was preceded by affirmation of Komrem identity as Kuki by the Samulamlan TD Block Demand Committee during a customary ceremony held at B Vengnom, Churachandpur, thus, putting to rest the previous ambivalences vis-a-vis their sense of belonging.
The Committee was led by Onler Kom, the husband of pugilist Mary Kom.
The ceremony was also marked by releasing of the song, 'Bangkok a Kon Kagal dot e kanam Mite, A-Z Kakhop Ho Chuho Chu Kukite Lentol a Kikim Hinam? (A rough translation of which would mean: From Bangkok, I yearn to know if my Kuki brethren from Aimol to Zou (A-Z) have all come together) composed by President of KNO PS Haokip, Stephen Kuki said, adding that United Komrem Revolutionary Army (UKRA), which represents the Komrem people, is a member of KNO and UKRA comprises former members of NSCN (IM), UNLF, KYKL AND PLA.
