Imphal, April 24 2019: As observed in the State, Khongjom Day Observation Committee (KDOC), Bangladesh also observed Khongjom Day yesterday commemorating the fallen heroes.

During the observance in Bangladesh, the dignitaries and the gathering paid floral tribute at the memorial site of Paona Brajabashi.

Students at the event recited poems from "Khongjom Tirtha" written by Nilbir Sharma, said statement of Khongjom Day Observation Committee (KDOC), Hamom Leikai Chhangaon, Moulvibazar, Bangladesh.

Winners of the poem recitation, Keisham Chanu Keyamani, Keisham Chanu Suktimani and Keisham Chanu Manika who were placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively were felicitated with simple prizes.

A discussion session was also organised which was attended by eminent personalities and local leaders such as AK Seram, Monmuhon Singh, M Birendra Singh, hamon Tanubabu and others, said the statement.

NEIDP pays tribute to brave souls
In connection with the observance of Khongjom Day across the State, North East India Development Party (NEIDP) also celebrated the day at its office in Tera Sapam Leirak Machin yesterday.

Members of the party paid floral tributes to the photos of the freedom fighters.

NEIDP Manipur State president Dr Ng Bijoy, NEIDP MP candidate RK Anand, former MLA K Sarat and other members were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Ng Bijoy said that the freedom fighters of the land were brave enough to face the heavily armed British soldiers with just swords and on that day, the people saw how valiantly they defended the motherland.
