It is important to support the region with access to education, infrastructure and opportunities to promote and inspire young minds.
In alignment with the Indian Government's 'Skill India' initiative, Amway has been significantly contributing towards skill development and nurturing talent in the country through multiple initiatives.
One such initiative is Project Sunrise, through which our endeavor is to support underprivileged and differently abled children in their education and health.
I am grateful to FICCI for giving us this opportunity to share some of the initiatives Amway has undertaken over the years to educate and uplift the underprivileged communities across the region".
"North East India has the potential to emerge as the education hub for Asia", said Jishnu Dev Varma, Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura.
He further said that the region is still lagging behind due to several issues related to infrastructure, social issues, law & order etc and proper redressal of these issues and judicious use of available resources can go a long way in developing this region as the education hub of Asia.
Amway has been relentlessly contributing towards the Skill India initiative through various programs across the country.
Under its Project Sunrise program, Amway has worked with 60 NGOs across the country, benefiting over 35,000 children over the last 10 years.
Some of the significant initiatives under this program include sponsoring tuition fees for the less privileged children, setting up libraries, computer training centres and physiotherapy centres and regular health check-ups at camps.
Additionally, through the Women Entrepreneurship Program, Amway India has been supporting under-privileged women with the required skill set through tutorials on beauty and grooming, stitching and embroidery etc.
In the initial phase, the project benefited over 200 direct and 20,000 indirect beneficiaries in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
In the second phase, the project is expected to empower over 400 underprivileged women in Himachal Pradesh and Delhi.
Amway India has also been focusing on a digital-first approach to enhance the competencies of its micro-entrepreneurs to aid their business growth.
To this end, Amway has organized over 5000 training programs engaging over 5 lakh micro entrepreneurs since the lockdown.
