Transfer and posting done to streamline manpower, says PCR

The Police Control Room (PCR) Manipur Police has informed that the transfer and posting of 177 personnel of all communities of MR/IR units to various units have been done.
The transfer and posting has been notified in a Manipur Police Headquarters order dated February 14, 2024 and it has been done in order to streamline the excess manpower against the sanctioned post available in all MR/IR units and to facilitate the process for preparation of their salaries however no immediate movement of the personnel is required at this stage in view of the present crisis, said a press note issued today by Manipur Police PCR.
The release further informed that search operations and area dominations were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of the hills and valley.
During such operations, the Manipur Police arrested an active member of KYKL identified as RK Jitensana alias Nanao (43 yrs) of Pangei Leiram Mapan near MPTC gate in Imphal West district.
The arrested member is suspected to be involved in the assault of truck drivers at Sekmai on the night of February 16, 2024 .
In line with the poppy destruction drive, the security forces along with the District Administration conducted an intensive poppy plants destruction drive at Sadim Hill ranges of Senapati district yesterday where nine acres of poppy plantation were destroyed.
In this regard, a case has been registered at Senapati Police Station for further investigation.
Furthermore, the Manipur Police arrested an individual identified as Md Toncha alias Nezimmudin (24yrs) of Kwakta Ward no 8 (KMC) in Bishnupur district for illicit trafficking of suspected Heroin powder and a case has been registered at PGCI PS for necessary investigation, it added .
The PCR also informed that a total of 143 Nakas/checkpoints were installed in different districts of Manipur and Police detained 214 persons in connection with violations in different districts.
The PCR went on to appeal to the general public not to believe in rumours.

It also appealed to the public to return the looted arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or nearest security forces immediately.
