Imphal, November 22 2012:
As part of the stringent security measures taken up by the State Government specifically for the Sangai Festival, CCTV cameras have been installed in and around Hapta Kangjeibung, the main venue of the festival.
Taking serious note of the security lapses detected last year which led to a bomb blast just outside the festival venue last year, stringent security measures have been put in place to thwart any such subversive activities this time, said Imphal East SP Kamei Angam Romanus.
To avoid traffic congestion around the festival venue, parking lots have been allotted at RDS School, Wangkhei Angom Leikai, Andro Parking and Keithel Ashangbi.
Necessary arrangements are also being made to issue car pass to the people who are running stalls at the 10-day festival.
Further, one fire tender and two ambulance vehicles have been stationed at Hapta Kangjeibung to meet any case of exigency, the SP added.
Police have been closely monitoring the situation by installing CCTV cameras in and around the festival venue.
Moreover, frisking and checking exercises have been enhanced.
Four commando teams led by an Additional SP have been deployed around Hapta Kangjeibung.
In addition, more than 100 civil police personnel have been deployed in the area.
