The Senapati District Students Association (SDSA) has fully endorsed the demands and ultimatum given by the All Tribal Students Union, Manipur (ATSUM) to Manipur Govt to seal interstate routes and halt National Projects implementing in the State from October 26 if notice for the election of ADC in the hill districts is not announced within 4 days.
This announcement was made by the Senapati district apex student's body in a press meet held at the office of the SDSA, Senapati.
Speaking at the meet, Pung Mark, president, SDSA stated that the student body supported and endorsed the warning given by ATSUM for a timely announcement of a date for election and conduct of the ADC election in hill districts of Manipur.
The president stated that SDSA will comply with the warning given by ATSUM if the State Government lends a deaf ear to the warning, mentioning that they believe the Government will react positively.
Mention may be made that the tenure for the incumbent ADC expired in the last May/June this year but was extended for another six months as per a recommendation made by the Hills Area Committee.
Pung Mark stated that there is no administrative difficulty in holding the ADC election and pressed the State Government to look into the matter and conduct the ADC election in November this year.
