Ningol Chakkouba festival celebrated with fervour

Manipur Baptist Convention celebrated Ningol Chakkouba festival at Manipur Baptist Centre Church, Chingmeirong yesterday .
Speaking at the celebration function held on the theme "You are the Light of the World", Pastor, MBC Centre Church, L Simon Raomai stated that participation of married women from different communities in Ningol Chakkouba festival affirms the inseparable bonding between the different communities .
He observed that the bonding can be strengthened if the festival is widely celebrated both in the hills and the valley .
He wished for peaceful co-existence amongst the different communities with the celebration of the festival .
Gifts were presented to the married women from different communities, who participated in the celebration function.
A feast was organised during the occasion .
Manipur State Legal Services Authority; Relief Centre for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons, Manipur; Disabled Development Association, Manipur; Imphal West District Legal Services Authority and North East India Development Party jointly organised the 5th Nigol Khudol specially for women with disabilities and orphan children at Sagolband Tera Market yesterday .
Dr RK Kumarjit Singh, State Disabilities Commissioner; M Manojkumar Singh, chairman of Imphal West District Legal Service Authority; ex-MLA Sapam Kunjakeshor (Keba) who is also the vice-president of NEIDP and advisor of Relief Centre for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons; social scientist Dhanabir Laishram and Jina Potshangbam, chairperson of National Cooperative Union of India attended the function as presidium members .
As part of the programme, a one day conference on the empowerment of persons with disabilities was held .
Manipuri Community (Sikkim Central University) celebrated Ningol-Chakkauba festival at 32 Mile Water Resort, East Sikkim.
Altogether 50 teaching faculties and students from different communities from Manipur attended the occasion .
The celebration function started with a feast followed by presentation of gifts for all the Ningols .
Manipuri students of North Eastern Regional Institute of Science & Technology (NERIST), Nirjuli, Arunacal Pradesh also celebrated Ningol Chakkouba festival .
Entertainment programmes and a sumptuous meal were the main features of the function .
Manipuri Ningols including NERIST students and faculties were invited to the festival.
Around 150 people took part in the function .
The celebration function ended with a gift presentation ceremony as a token of brotherly love for the Ningols .
As part of its efforts to strengthen the bond between different communities in the State and the Armed Forces, 5 Jammu & Kashmir Rifles of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) celebrated Ningol Chakkouba festival at Tulihal COB, Imphal West district.
The celebration included felicitation and presentation of gifts and sweets to 15 hard working women including Meira Paibis of the society followed by tea and refreshments.
