As a part of the ongoing mass protest for implementation of Inner Line Permit System in Manipur, the Students Wing of Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit (JCILP), Thoubal district branch has on Tuesday blockaded the road stretch of NH2 at Thoubal District Headquarters.
During the protest, the students of the Waikhom Mani Girls' College, Fancier Aviram Higher Secondary School, Vision Creative School and Chaoyaima Higher Secondary School protested on the road stretch from Thoubal Okram to Yairipok Lamkhai.
The Thoubal District Convener of the Student Wing Kh Rabi demanded implementation of ILPS in Manipur before the advent of railway line in Manipur and also added that their agitation for ILPS will continue until and unless ILPS is implemented in the State.
Rabi Khundongbam, Convenor, ILPS Student Wing, Thoubal District, said that despite the Cabinet's decisions to impose the Inner Line Permit in the State, it has so far failed to yield a constructive result.
He added that with the railway construction in underway, there will be more populace of non-Manipuri in the State which will hamper the aboriginal inhabitants of Manipur.
He further stated that unless the Government implement the IPL in the State, the ILPS Student Wing will continue resort to rigorous agitation.
