DESAM accuses

Democratic Students' Alliance
of Manipur (DESAM) has ac-
cused MU Vice-Chancellor of
being biased and resorting to
unconventional practices.
Addressing media persons
today at its office located at
Keishampat, DESAM presi-
dent Moirangthem Angamba
said that the incumbent VC of
MU Prof HNK Sarma has
manipulated the functioning
of the university since he took
the charge of VC from Jan
24, 2011 till today.
A total of 101 employees
have been appointed on con-
tract basis at MU from July
19 to March 10, 2015.No
advertisement has been made
for the appointment of the
contract employees, Angamba
said.
Besides, no DPC was
conducted.
All these appoint-
ments have been made in
violation of Central Govt rules
and regulations, he alleged.
Accusing the VC of prac-
tising nepotism, Angamba
said that one Assistant Pro-
fessor was granted leave of 6
months on maternity ground
without pay whereas one
Assistant Professor was
granted leave on the same
ground with pay.
He said that the alleged
misconduct of the VC came
to light after a three-member
fact finding committee of
DESAM came out with a
report.
Angamba said that the stu-
dents' body will continue to
keep a close eye on the func-
tioning of MU in the days to
come too .
