Kangpokpi, August 21 2020: Community participation in combating the pandemic COVID-19 in Kangpokpi District continues to stand tall in various ways, setting an example to many in other parts of the State.

Chawangkining COVID-19 Relief Committee established by Chawangkining Village Authority is one such voluntary organization based on 'Service to mankind is service to God' in the district.

Chawangkining is a village with a diverse community located along Twilang Lampi, commonly known as Imphal-Tamenglong road, which is around 12 km far from Kangpokpi District Headquarters.

The people of Chawangkining village under the aegis of Chawangkining Village Authority and Chawangkining Village COVID-19 Relief Committee donated a huge quantity of fresh wild vegetables for inmates under surveillance at various IQCs in the district, today.

Chawangkining COVID-19 Relief Committee had also donated several items earlier, not only within the district but also in Senapati and Imphal as well for the returnees.

One DI Tata loaded fully with fresh wild vegetables collected from the jungle by the villagers were handed over this morning at TBA Church Kangpokpi, the centralized kitchen for inmates at Kangpokpi in the presence of the local SDO Chunglenmang Kipgen, MCS.

The team was led by Chawangkining Village Authority chairman, Ch Wishubui; Chawangkining Village COVID-19 Relief Committee convenor, Adam Gonmei and co-convenor, Wichamdinbou Charenamei.

Appreciating the service, Thanglensei, one of the Church leaders of TBA Kangpokpi said that Chawangkining people not only inspire many people but also show them a good lesson towards humanity.
